Haueda is a district of the small town of Liebenau in the northern Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical location

Haueda lies in the valley of the Diemel . The core town of Liebenau is located 3 km to the east and the town of Warburg is 7 km to the west. Kassel is 25 km southeast of the village (as the crow flies ).

history

Tombs and finds that date back to the Neolithic Age testify to a prehistoric settlement in the area around Haueda . Haueda itself was first mentioned in a document in the second half of the 10th century.

On February 1, 1971, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Liebenau as a district.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

The federal highways B 7 and B 241 run nearby . The next motorway junctions are at Warburg and Breuna on the A 44 .

The nearest regional train station is in Warburg, on the Kassel – Warburg railway line , which also runs past the site. The remains of a former stop can be seen. The simple station building came from Julius Eugen Ruhl , but was demolished in 1952. The next long-distance train stations with ICE / IC stops are Warburg (individual trains) and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe .

Nearby regional airports are Kassel-Calden Airport and Paderborn / Lippstadt Airport , which is around 50 km away .

Economic structure

Even if the area around Haueda is still rural, agriculture only plays a subordinate role.

With the exception of a medium-sized company in the "Am Kirschenbrunnen" industrial park, there is no notable employer in the town, so most of the town's working residents have to commute. The limestone quarry north of the town is one of the most important fossil sites in northern Hesse.
