history

More than 4000 years old graves and archaeological finds indicate a settlement of the area since at least the end of the Neolithic period at the transition to the Bronze Age . The place was first mentioned in the twelfth century (around 1106).

On February 1, 1971, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Liebenau as a district.

Three federal highways run near the town ; The B 7 to the south or west , the B 83 to the east and the B 241 to the north . The next motorway junctions are at Warburg and Breuna on the A 44 . There are regional train stations in Liebenau, Hümme and Hofgeismar. Lamerden used to have a train station on the Kassel – Warburg railway line that is no longer served today. However, it is planned to set up a stop again in Lamerden as part of the expansion of the RegioTram Nordhessen.

There are IC and ICE train stations in Warburg and Kassel .

The nearest regional airport is Kassel-Calden in the municipality of Calden .
