Zwergen is a district of the small town Liebenau in the north Hessian district of Kassel .

The place is in the valley of warmth , a right tributary of the Diemel . The core city of Liebenau is 2 kilometers (km) north, Hofgeismar 6 km east, Warburg 10 km west and Kassel 23 km south-east (all information as the crow flies to the respective city center).

history

More than 4000 years old graves and archaeological finds indicate a settlement of the area at least since the end of the Neolithic at the transition to the Bronze Age . The place Zwergen was first mentioned in a document in 850.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Zwergen became a district of Liebenau by virtue of state law on August 1, 1972.

Three federal highways run a few kilometers from the town ; west and south the B 7 , east the B 83 and north the B 241 . The next motorway junctions are at Warburg and Breuna on the A 44 . There are IC and ICE train stations in Warburg and Kassel ; there are further regional train stations in Liebenau, Hümme and Hofgeismar. The nearest regional airport is the airport Kassel-Calden .
