The village Hausen 1206 mentioned as "Husen 'first documentary and was from 1294 to Kurmainz , but was the Reifenstein Abbey to the secularization loan fee . At the beginning of the 16th century, Hausen was deserted until the abbot Matthias Rüdiger von Reifenstein had the monastery village rebuilt around 1538.
In 1802 Hausen came to Prussia , in 1807 to the Kingdom of Westphalia and in 1813 again to the Province of Saxony of the Kingdom of Prussia. 1945 to 1949 the place was then part of the Soviet occupation zone and from 1949 part of the GDR . From 1961 to 1990 until the fall of the Wall and reunification , the place was affected by its proximity to the border. Since 1990 the place has been part of the newly founded state of Thuringia.
The previously independent municipality of Hausen was incorporated into Niederorschel on January 1, 2019. It belonged to the Eichsfelder Kessel administrative community .

Culture and sights
The dog sports club was founded on the Thomasberg in 1968 and is still involved in the training of companion, tracking and protection dogs. The club also includes sports fans from the surrounding communities.
Every year on the weekend of Pentecost, the local fire brigade organizes a tent camp for all young people with games and fun. But also in cooperation with other associations (fair boys, choir, sports club, etc.), for example, a summer festival, the Easter bonfire and a Christmas market succeed.
Every year on the second weekend in October, Hausen celebrates the big fair with a parade and several events on the weekend.
