Heidemarie Lex-Nalis , née Heidemarie Oberrauter (born May 28, 1950 in Spittal an der Drau , Carinthia ; † February 24, 2018 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sociologist , educator and champion of elementary education in Austria.

Life

She was born as the daughter of Josef and Johanna Oberrauter (1924–2013). The mother was a dialect poet and SPÖ councilor for Spittal an der Drau. After her training as a kindergarten teacher in Klagenfurt and - as one of the first women in Austria - taking the vocational matriculation examination at the University of Vienna , Heidemarie Lex-Nalis completed studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (qualification to teach rhythmic-musical education for people and young people ), at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Mag. rer. soc. oec. for economics and sociology) and at the Alpen-Adria-Universität in Klagenfurt (Dr. phil. for social education and social psychology ).

She began her professional career in 1968 as a kindergarten teacher and after- school teacher with the City of Vienna.Since 1972 she has been teaching in various training and further education institutions for kindergarten teachers and has subsequently also been a teacher at educational institutions for kindergarten education (today BAfEP) in Linz and at the technical college for social professions / handicapped work (today school for social care professions Gallneukirchen, handicapped work & handicapped support) in Gallneukirchen , Upper Austria .

From 1980 to 1984 she was a teacher at the special education nursing school in Herne / Germany, lecturer at the FH for social pedagogy in Bochum and practical advisor in several institutions of the Diakonie for people with disabilities.

From 1984 to 1993 she was a teacher for practice, didactics, curative and special education, communication and group dynamics at the educational institute for kindergarten education (today: BAfEP) in Vienna-Ettenreichgasse.

From 1993 to 2003 she was head of the educational institute for kindergarten pedagogy (today: BAfEP) in Ettenreichgasse in Vienna-Favoriten and until 1998 also the BAKIP (today BAfEP) Langegasse and Albertgasse in Vienna.

Heidemarie Lex-Nalis was a co-founder of the nationwide network "Platform EduCare". This promotes the exchange between educators and kindergarten providers, but also repeatedly took a position on issues of educational policy. In this context Heidemarie Lex-Nalis campaigned with great commitment for an upgrading of the important professional field of kindergarten education and emphasized the great importance of elementary education for society and its children.

Heidemarie Lex-Nalis is considered a pioneer in the field of elementary education, who has always advocated tertiary education in elementary education. Her commitment was aimed at improving the framework conditions for elementary educational facilities and institutions; she was known as a campaigner for quality development in elementary education.

In addition to her work in elementary education, Heidemarie Lex-Nalis has worked as a department head at PSD-Psychosocial Services Vienna since 1979 as well as in counseling, training and further education in facilities for disabled people - especially within the framework of the non-profit foundation Helga Keil-Bastendorff. devoted himself to the development and management of community-integrated facilities for mentally and multiply disabled or chronically mentally ill people within the framework of the psychiatric reform in Vienna, was on the board of the Association for Community Integration and Normalization (GIN) in Vienna.

Another branch of activity was the development and management of supervision courses for practical didactics teachers as well as the development and management of a psychotherapeutic propaedeutic course for kindergarten teachers as well as accompanying the students of coaching training within the framework of the ARGE Bildungsmanagement.

After all, Heidemarie Lex-Nalis has been a lecturer for the degree programs for elementary education at the FH Campus Vienna and at the universities of Graz and Salzburg since 2014 .
