Heinrich Andreas Walther (born December 21, 1696 in Königsberg (Biebertal) , † November 5, 1748 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and pastor .

Life

Walther was the son of the Lutheran preacher Andreas Walther . From 1712 he studied theology, ancient languages ​​and law at the University of Giessen . In 1715 he acquired his master's degree and then gave lectures in Hebrew , Chaldean , Latin , logic, metaphysics, ethics, natural law and politics. In 1720 he became a lecturer at the Gießen Pedagogy . In 1729 Walther went to Worms as a pastor and high school teacher .

From there he was appointed pastor to the Katharinenkirche in Frankfurt am Main in 1733 . On October 10, 1741, he moved to the Barfüßerkirche and was the successor to Christian Münden Senior of the Ministry of Preachers and Consistorial Assessor . On November 2, 1741, after a public disputation, the University of Giessen awarded him the degree of Doctor of Theology . He died in Frankfurt on November 5, 1748. His successor as a senior was Johann Philipp Fresenius .

In 1720 he married Marthe Christiane Rube from Battenberg , the daughter of the Hesse-Darmstadt bailiff Johann Christoph Rube (1665–1746). The marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters:
