Heinrich von Drasche-Wartinberg
Heinrich Drasche , from March 21, 1870: Heinrich Drasche Ritter von Wartinberg (born April 19, 1811 in Brno , † July 24, 1880 in Inzersdorf near Vienna ), was an Austrian major industrial and brick manufacturer .
biography
His parents were the cloth manufacturer in Brno Josef Drasche and his wife Anna Miesbach , the daughter of the brick factory owner. After the death of his uncle Alois Miesbach in 1857, Drasche took over his brick company in the south of Vienna . During the founding period , he developed the company into the leading corporation of its kind in Austria-Hungary and expanded it into Wienerberger AG, which still exists today . While Drasche gained considerable influence on the construction industry in Austria-Hungary and - like other leading industrialists of his time - was finally ennobled by Emperor Franz Joseph I , the working conditions in the brick pits were generally poor in the industry.
These conditions, which deteriorated further after the company's IPO in 1869 (Heinrich Drasche, who had sold his brickworks to the Franco-Oesterreichische Bank , was only an honorary administrator for life at Wienerberger AG ), were recognized by the doctor and journalist Victor Adler in socially critical reports made known to a broad public.
In 1866 he bought the Bohemian manor Pardubitz with Kunburg from the kk privileged Österreichische Credit-Anstalt for trade and commerce. After Heinrich Drasche's death in 1880, his son Richard took over the management of the company, but also worked as an Asian researcher and painter.
Drasche married Josephine von Freudenthal (1827–1862). The couple had two children:
- Richard (1850-1923)
- Luise (born January 13, 1857)
- ∞ Count Arthur Karl Christoph von Schlippenbach (born October 9, 1837 - March 31, 1881), retired lieutenant. D., Mr. on Marussent in Croatia
- ∞ 1881 Count Rudolf Erdödy
Preserved traces in Vienna
A number of locations in the south of Vienna were named after Heinrich Drasche von Wartinberg and his family, reminding of his great influence at that time. For example Draschestrasse and Draschepark in the 23rd district of Vienna (Liesing) . In the area of today's Draschepark there were two castles (the old and the new Inzersdorf Castle ), which passed into the possession of the Drasche family after 1857. They were badly damaged by bombs during the Second World War and finally demolished in 1965 in the course of the construction of the Vienna Südosttangente . Heinrich Drasche von Wartinberg had a burial chapel built for himself and his family in the parish church of Inzersdorf . Above Inzersdorf, on Wienerberg , a number of mining ponds and lakes can still be seen today as recreational areas as silent witnesses of industrialization .
