Heinrich Gueinzius

Heinrich Bernhard Albert Gottlob Gueinzius (born July 30, 1794 in Halberstadt , † April 6, 1871 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Heinrich was the son of the surgeon in the personal company of the infantry regiment "von Braunschweig" Johann Gottlieb Gueinzius and his wife Sophie, née Michaelen.

Military career

Gueinzius studied theology and joined the 12th Silesian Landwehr Regiment of the Prussian Army as a second lieutenant with the beginning of the Wars of Liberation on June 1, 1813 . During the war he received the Iron Cross II. Class and at the end of April 1814 was promoted to Prime Lieutenant .

After the peace treaty , Gueinzius was ordered to serve at the Landwehr Inspection in Opole on February 1, 1816 , and on May 8, 1816, left in this position, was aggregated to the 22nd Infantry Regiment on June 6th and June 18th, 1817 . On March 30, 1818 he was appointed adjutant of the 12th Landwehr Brigade and promoted to captain on March 30, 1819 . He was promoted to major on March 30, 1832, and was transferred to the 6th Division as adjutant . From there he was assigned to the Army Department in the War Ministry on March 25, 1834 and formally transferred there on October 25, 1834. In this position, Gueinzius received the Order of St. Stanislaus II on April 26, 1837 , was entrusted with the management of the affairs of the Ministry of War on June 9, and was appointed head of the Ministry of War on October 25, 1837. As such, Gueinzius received the Order of St. Anna II. Class with Crown in September 1839 and the Guelph Order III at the end of May 1840 . Class. He rose to the rank of colonel by the end of March 1844 , before Gueinzius resigned from active service on May 4, 1848 and was appointed to the real secret war council while remaining in his position .

On 9 May 1848 he was given the character as a major general . On January 15, 1850, he was awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, and on February 20, 1851, with a salary of 3500 thalers, he was appointed director of the Department of Military Economics. Under ceremony of the character as a lieutenant general Gueinzius received his on April 10, 1856 farewell with board . He died in Berlin on April 6, 1871.

Gueinzius married Laura Amalie Wilhelmine Luise Schaeffer (1801–1831) in Ferchland on July 4, 1830 , who was buried in the garrison cemetery after her death on May 5, 1831 .
