from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich V. Count von Ortenburg zu Neu-Ortenburg († 1449 ) was the eldest son of Count Georg I von Ortenburg and Siguna von Buchberg. Heinrich comes from the Lower Bavarian family of Ortenburgers .

Live and act

Heinrich V can be documented from 1417 to 1449, but little is known about his life. Occasionally he is called Graf zu Neu-Ortenburg after his branch .

Because of his marriage to Ursula von Ecker zu Saldenburg, after the death of his father-in-law in 1426, Heinrich and the Ortenburg house had major inheritance disputes. It was about possessions around Saldenburg , Söldenau and Rainding . A first arbitration saying by Duke Johann III. von Niederbayern-Straubing-Holland , after which Heinrich was awarded a quarter of the inheritance, was unsuccessful. Likewise in 1442, the attempt by Duke Heinrich XVI failed . , in which the Ortenburgers again received joint ownership of the Saldenburg Fortress and the Saldenburg town. It was not until 1445 that Heinrich managed to end the dispute by purchasing the goods around Saldenburg.

In 1435 he entered the service of the Duke of Bavaria-Landshut as a ducal councilor. He also held the post of judge in Griesbach between 1437 and 1438 .

Heinrich V died in 1449. His property went to his eldest son Georg II , who was to become the reigning Count of the Empire in 1460.

Heinrich was not allowed to become Count of Ortenburg , but he was supposed to become the ancestor of the main line of the Ortenburg family, as his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren combined the goods of the Ortenburg house and kept the county together.

progeny

Heinrich was married twice. In first marriage (before January 1422) with Ursula Ecker zu Saldenburg († 1436) and in second marriage with Elisabeth von Törring . The following children are from the first marriage:
