Heinrich XXVII. Prince Reuss younger line, Count and Lord of Plauen, Lord of Greiz, Kranichfeld, Gera, Schleiz and Lobenstein (born November 10, 1858 in Gera ; † November 21, 1928 there ) was the last ruling Russian prince and Prussian general of the cavalry .

Life

Heinrich XXVII. was the son of Prince Heinrich XIV and Princess Agnes of Württemberg . He attended the Vitzthum'sche Gymnasium in Dresden . From 1879 to 1880 Heinrich then studied in Bonn and Leipzig . He had been a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn since 1879 . After completing his studies, he continued his officer career in the Guard Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army . He became captain and squadron chief . On October 18, 1891, Heinrich left the regiment in uniform and went over to the army officers à la suite . Since September 13, 1911 he led the character as general of the cavalry. During the First World War Heinrich was the General Command of the XI. Assigned to Army Corps .

From 1908 to 1918 he was the regent of the Principality of Reuss older line , from 1908 to 1913 regent of the Principality of Reuss younger line and from 1913 to 1918 ruling Prince von Reuss younger line. The younger line had taken over the rule of the Principality Reuss older line in 1902, because this after the death of Heinrich XXII. no longer had a governable successor ( Heinrich XXIV. ). On November 11, 1918 Heinrich XXVII. abdicate as a result of the November Revolution.

After the older line of the Reuss family had expired with the death of Heinrich XXIV in 1927 , Heinrich XLV died with the death of Heinrich XXVII's son . in 1945 also the former ruling junior line. All still living members of the House of Reuss come from the former apanagierten sidelines of Reuss-Köstritz .

Heinrich XXVII. married Princess Elise zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg in 1884 and had five children with her:

Awards

In 1884 Heinrich XXVII. awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown .
