Heinrich von Meyerinck

Heinrich von Meyerinck (born December 6, 1786 in Magdeburg , † September 18, 1848 in Stettin ) was a German officer and chief forester .

Life

His parents were the Prussian major Wilhelm Heinrich Jakob von Meyerinck (* 23 August 1755; † 23 November 1792) and his wife Sophie, born von Biedersee (1764-1820). After the death of her husband, his mother married Field Marshal Ludwig Karl von Kalckstein .

Meyerinck embarked on a career as an officer in the Prussian Army and was most recently a captain in the Pomeranian Hussar Regiment No. 5 . In the meantime, after the defeat of Prussia in the Fourth Coalition War from 1807 to 1812, he worked as chamberlain in the service of Herzoglich Anhalt-Köthen .

After retiring from military service, Meyerinck studied natural sciences in Halle (Saale) and, after passing his forester examination in 1817, found a job as a chief forester in Grüneberg / Elbe the following year. From 1845 until his death he was head forester in Stettin . Meyerinck wrote widely acclaimed essays on his experiences with the establishment and maintenance of existing buildings as well as with the training of timber.
