Life

Heinz Draehn went to sea after finishing school and was taken prisoner of war in Yugoslavia during the Second World War . During this time it was possible for him to make up several years of school. At the same time he started acting. After his release he worked as a dock worker in Rostock and played in the amateur cabaret Rostocker Spatzen until he was hired by Erich Brehm for the Berlin cabaret Die Distel in 1954 . There he performed in various roles for over 30 years and moved to Neuenhagen near Berlin . Between 1957 and 1965 he played in several DEFA films, including the satire series Das Stacheltier .

He became known throughout the GDR during his television appearances as "Kuddeldaddeldu", his portrayal of a sailor, which was borrowed from the character Kuttel Daddeldu by Joachim Ringelnatz . Hans Krause wrote the lyrics . In this role, which he played in the Distel for about 20 years from the mid-1960s, he was a guest in 60 episodes of the program Klock 8, aft Strom . This also included dialogues with Peter Borgelt as "Kuddeldaddelich". In 1979 he was awarded the GDR Art Prize "especially for the design of the figure of Kuddeldaddeldu" . In 1982 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall he founded the cabaret group Distel-Oldies , with which he went on tour. But he also continued to perform as a soloist.
