Hellmuth Hahn

Hellmuth Hahn (born January 8, 1927 in Bissendorf ; † August 24, 2015 there ) was a German local researcher , historian , doctor and local politician .

Life

Hellmuth Hahn was born in Bissendorf in 1927 as the son of Dr. med. Hellmuth Hahn Sr. and Maria Kern were born in Wedemark . He attended elementary school in Bissendorf and then the Leibniz School in Hanover , then in schools in the Garbsen area , where he was stationed because he served as an air force helper in World War II . He was wounded and was subsequently taken prisoner by the British , from which he was freed in 1946. He then went to the Sophia School in Hanover , then at the Humboldt School in Hanover and then again at the Leibniz School, where he graduated from high school in 1947. He then worked as a nurse in the Schwarmstedt hospital until 1949 and then as a laboratory assistant to the pathologist Martin Nordmann until 1950 . From 1950 he studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Erlangen . There he graduated with top marks and cum laude . After graduation, he worked in gynecology and the children's clinic in the municipal hospital in Berlin-Neukölln , in the II. Medical clinic in Hamburg-St. Georg and in the municipal hospital in Uetersen . He then went on to serve as corvette captain ship's doctor for the Federal Fisheries Protection Agency on the Anton Dohrn and on the Frithjof . He then worked as an assistant doctor in Holtorf , then in the Siloah Municipal Hospital in Hanover , where he was recognized as a specialist in internal medicine . From 1964 to 1969 he was the chief physician in his late father's private clinic in Bissendorf. He closed the clinic on the instructions of the Ministry of Social Affairs and turned it into a doctor's practice. Until 1973 he was active in the council of the community of Bissendorf. From 1974 to 1977 he was the first mayor of the new district of Bissendorf within the new municipality of Wedemark. At the same time, he was an appraiser for the state insurance company and until 1997 an honorary judge in the fifth senate of the Celle regional social court . In 1989 he built his practice in a group practice to where he worked until the 1997th From 1998 to 2001 he was spokesman for the senior citizens' council. He was also involved for a long time in the Heimatbund Lower Saxony , the Lower Saxony Association for Family Studies , the Historical Association for Lower Saxony and the Bissendorf Beautification Association.

In the 1960s he began to study the history of his hometown and built up a private archive. He published a variety of publications on the history of Wedemark. In 2010 he was awarded the Lower Saxony Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his life's work . After his death in 2015, his collection was donated to the Hanover Region Archives at the request of his widow . He left behind his wife Wiebke and three sons Heinrich "Heiner", Jan and Timm. His greatest legacy is the Wedemark Chronicles.
