Helmut Leite (born April 20, 1947 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian athlete and politician .

Life

Helmut Leite was born as the son of the master baker Gebhard Leite (* December 17, 1891 - March 7, 1951) and Maria Leite. Immler (born September 26, 1904, † January 20, 1997) was born. Helmut Leite's grandfather was the Schwarzach master baker Franz-Xaver Leite (born December 8, 1860). Leite was married twice. The marriages have three children. He is married to Imelda (born June 8, 1963 in Alberschwende ), who was the godmother to the construction of the Achrain tunnel .

Leite is a passionate musician and plays guitar .

Education

Helmut Leite attended the local elementary school, the commercial school and the commercial vocational school in Bregenz.

Sporting activity

Helmut Leite was successful at a young age as a ski jumper and cross-country skier as well as in alpine skiing and participated in sporting competitions (cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, etc.) until old age. He has been a multiple combination winner in both the Nordic and Alpine areas and has achieved various titles, including national champions, regional champions and Alpine Cup winners. As a mountaineer, he climbed the Großglockner , Ortler , Piz Buin , Zimba , etc.

Leite was a junior coach at the ski association, the ski club and FC Schwarzach. In particular, as a trainer of the young Schwarzach cross-country skiers, he achieved considerable success.

Leite worked at Pircher in Bregenz as the head of the machine department, then at Schelling Anlagenbau (now: IMA Schelling Group ) in Schwarzach as an IT technician when the then new IT technology was introduced .

Political activity

Helmut Leite began his political activities in 1975 as a member of the municipal council and headed the sports committee. From January 10, 1979 (when the youngest mayor of Vorarlberg) to April 12, 2010 he was mayor of Schwarzach. During his entire term of office he ran his own list in the elections because he wanted to be independent and not allow himself to be captured by the Austrian People's Party .

The creation of the Heimatmuseum Schwarzach with the “Schlifar Museum” goes back to the personal commitment and an inheritance waiver by Helmut Leite in favor of the community of Schwarzach. Under his leadership, the community of Schwarzach became a relevant business location and could e.g. B. the Vorarlberger Medienhaus will be located here. The Schelling Anlagenbau company was saved from bankruptcy twice during these years. The infrastructure of the community was significantly expanded during the 31 years of his term of office, among other things with a community hall, the settlement of a secondary school (now middle school ), apartments for the elderly, kindergartens, a post office, a new fire station, a spacious sports and recreation center, new construction of the village center with a municipal office and village square including Hofsteig gastronomy and underground car park, as well as other social facilities. In the area of ​​the “Maggiareal”, inexpensive building sites were created for families by making land available and a new building yard was made possible.

Through the construction of the Achrain tunnel and a motorway connection during this time, Schwarzach and the Schwarzachtobelstraße were relieved of through traffic.

Voluntary work

Leite has been chairman of the supraregional Hofsteig municipal agency (a kind of justice of the peace ) for 40 years . Since his retirement, Leite has been chairman of the Schwarzach Nursing Association and founded the national Pflegedienst Hofsteig Association in 2013 , together with the nursing associations from Kennelbach , Buch and Bildstein , which is still a model example of successful community cooperation in Vorarlberg.

Leite is an honorary member of the Vorarlberg Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired and in this context also undertakes ski hikes for the blind.
