Helmut "Joe" Sachse (born October 28, 1948 in Mittweida ) is a German jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Sachse studied from 1973 to 1978 at the Hochschule für Musik Weimar . At an early age he appeared in various Manfred Schulze groups , for example in the Gerhard Stein combo . In the mid-1970s he founded his own quartet, which soon expanded into the Osiris quintet , which included Manfred Hering , Hannes Zerbe , bassist Christoph Winckel and Wolfram Dix . Osiris went on a GDR tour with Charlie Mariano and Toto Blanke . At the end of the 1970s he played in a duo with Uwe Kropinski , which was later expanded into a double mop with Hannes and Conny Bauer (record 1980) and played at numerous international festivals, such as the Moers Festival ; In this group and in solo projects, Sachse also used the flute . In the early 1980s he played in the Heinz Becker Group (record 1982), and with Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky , Heinz Becker and Klaus Koch in a quartet, but also in a trio with Petrowsky and in a duo with Manfred Hering. He also worked with George Lewis , David Moss , John Tchicai , Maggie Nicols , Peter Kowald , Fred Van Hove , Paul Rutherford , Armin Heitz and Peter Brötzmann .
