Stained glass window

Probably one of his earliest stained glass windows was created by Hermann Gottfried in 1958 as an Annunciation window (Annunciation to Abraham, Elisabeth, Maria) for St. Peter and Paul in Kleinbüllesheim . In Cologne his works are in the churches of Groß St. Martin and St. Aposteln and the four windows in St. Maria Magdalena and Lazarus in the Melaten cemetery . In the 1960s he created the stained glass windows in the Wahlscheider Evangelical St. Bartholomew Church on the mountain and the chapel of the old people's home there. Seven windows in the north aisle of the Romanesque church of St. Nikolaus (Cologne-Dünnwald) also date from this period . In Düsseldorf-Bilk he made the arched window from 1964 in the church of Alt St. Martin . In 1964 he created two choir and four aisle windows with Old Testament motifs in the Kreuzkirche in Wiedenest . In the Archdiocese of Paderborn he designed from 1973 to 1982 the windows for the Church of the Holy Cross in Arnsberg and 1982, the window in the "Hasenkamp" of the Paderborn Cathedral . From 1983 to 1988 he designed the large cycle of windows in St. Matthias Church in Berlin-Schöneberg . In Hamm , Westphalia , the artist designed the large transept windows (1994 Sermon on the Mount, 1995 Pentecost) of the Liebfrauenkirche, as well as a smaller round window in the choir (1992).

Coloring

Gottfried took on a choir painting in St. Norbert, Cologne-Dellbrück, in 1964 (Secret of the Apocalypse). In Cologne- Flittard he redesigned the St. Hubertus Church in 1976/1977 with large-scale wall paintings and glass windows, as well as the apse in the Catholic Church in Birkenau (Odenwald) . In 1983 he painted the apse and vault of the St. Stephanus Church in Leverkusen . In 1997 he painted a monumental forehead mural in the neo-baroque parish and monastery church of St. Anthony in the district of Holzhausen-Ohrbeck in Georgsmarienhütte .

In 2011, Gottfried bequeathed stained glass and design boxes to the Foundation of the German Glass Painting Museum Linnich, which were exhibited together with other works from March 11 to April 29, 2012 in the German Glass Painting Museum.
