Hermsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1121.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Hermsdorf, Ackendorf , Bebertal , Eichenbarleben , Groß Santersleben , Hohenwarsleben , Irxleben , Niederndodeleben , Nordgermersleben , Ochtmersleben , Schackensleben and Wellen merged to form the new community of Hohe Börde.
