The Roman Catholic Herz-Jesu Chapel is located in the Hoven district of the city of Geilenkirchen ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

location

The chapel is located at the entrance to Hoven at the bus turning point. It replaces the old chapel, which should be demolished.

history

The first chapel in Hoven was a building from 1930. It stands on a new building plot and was not protected as a monument . The citizens of Hoven planned a new chapel and put the project into practice. On September 25, 2011, after a year of construction, the chapel was inaugurated.

architecture

The chapel is a small brick building with a segmented arch above the entrance. The roof area is covered with red roof tiles. There is a crucifix on the ridge. You enter the building through a wrought iron entrance door. A Madonna and Child stands on a stone altar . A lead glass window provides additional light. The year 2010 is carved into a wedge in the segment arch .
