Hettenhausen is a district of Gersfeld (Rhön) in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .
Geographical location
The village is located west of the core town of Gersfeld in the Rhön . The place has a stop on the Fulda – Gersfeld railway line . The federal road 279 runs through Hettenhausen .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 956. At that time there was already a mill . A St. George's Church is documented for 1453. A school was built in 1909. The Astrid Lindgren Primary School is now located in the building. From the 18th century to around 1920 there was a Jewish community in Hettenhausen.
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality Hettenhausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Gersfeld incorporated . For the district of Hettenhausen, as for the other incorporated, formerly independent municipalities, a local district with a local advisory council and local chief was set up according to the Hessian municipal code.
