Rommers is a district of the city of Gersfeld (Rhön) in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The village is located around 3.2 km south-southwest of the center of the core town of Gersfeld in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and the Hessian Rhön Nature Park . It is traversed by the upper reaches of the Fulda tributary Schmalnau ( called Rommerser Wasser in the upper and middle reaches ). South-east of the village, which is 551 to 612  m above sea level. NN , the Rommerser Berg ( 850.2  m ) rises and to the northwest the Kleine Nallenberg ( 704.1  m ).

Rommers was first mentioned in a document in 1441. After the place was deserted , it was repopulated by four people in 1558.

Incorporation

On December 31, 1970, the previously independent municipality Rommers was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Gersfeld incorporated . For the district of Rommers, as for the other incorporated, formerly independent municipalities, a local district with a local advisory board and local head was set up in accordance with the Hessian municipal code.
