Noon in Austria (2012 - August 18, 2017: today noon) is an information program broadcast on ORF 2 from Monday to Friday from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.

broadcast

The program, which has existed since September 24, 2012 and is broadcast like all news programs of the ORF Newsroom, provides information on current topics from Austria and the world. The program includes the most important topics from home and abroad, from culture , sport , nature and the environment , consumer protection and society. The central content of the Mittag in Österreich reporting is the editorial content of the ORF regional studios , which are usually also broadcast in the federal state today broadcasts of the respective federal state . There are also entries from reporters from the federal states and usually several studio guests.

Often guests are various ORF editors who talk about current events in their respective fields such as politics , economics or sport. Topics from other ORF information magazines are regularly reported in advance. Christoph Feurstein from Thema often comes to the studio on Mondays, Susanne Schnabl from Report on Tuesdays and Peter Resetarits from the program Bürgeranwalt in the studio on Fridays . Furthermore, the following experts are invited weekly or monthly on a topic from their respective field.

Sometimes, especially if the shipment is canceled, the experts can be guests on a different weekday than usual.

With the introduction of the early evening magazine Daheim in Austria on August 21, 2018, which was discontinued at the end of 2018, the program was renamed from today noon to the current title. Under the overarching title Out and about in Austria , a connection should be made between the magazine programs Guten Morgen Österreich , Daheim in Austria as well as Mittag in Austria and Aktuell in Austria by providing a daily topic that is dealt with in all programs. With a new adaptation at the beginning of 2019, this concept was abandoned.

The usual duration of the broadcast is just under 45 minutes. If the previously broadcast time in the picture (ZIB) is longer at 1 p.m. due to a major news event, the broadcast time can be reduced by around 10 minutes. Sometimes the broadcast lasts a few minutes longer until around 2:07 p.m. This is the case if the telenovela Sturm der Liebe, broadcast in the afternoon together with ARD, is canceled due to a different program schedule in Germany (mostly: sports broadcast).
