Help, i love twins! is a German mix-up comedy by Peter Weck from 1969.

content

Andy Hard is just about to establish himself as a photographer . An advertising company promises him an annual contract if he can get photos of the model Hanna Peters. Too bad it has an official contract with the competition. Andy tries to sneak photos of her and pretends to be a racing driver to the car-crazy Hanna. She quickly recognizes the trick and Andy is left behind. Uncle Fritz, who works as a mechanic in a racing team and helped Andy, is also fired, although he has just invented the miracle drug "Mobis 3", which makes cars drive faster.

Hanna goes to Velden am Wörther See and Andy also travels to her with his uncle Fritz. He found out from the porter that Hanna had phoned the hotel management school Lukullus, where Andy meets the supposed Hanna. What he does not know is that Hanna has a twin sister - Renate - who works as a sports teacher at school, among other things. Unlike Hanna, she doesn't smoke, doesn't drive and doesn't go to parties.

Since there is no cooking teacher at the school, Andy and Fritz jump in as cooks, since Fritz disguises himself as a woman and pretends to be Frau Liebling. Entanglements arise: Andy is led by the nose by the twins who want to take revenge for his attempt at photography. Over time, he believes that he is suffering from Wörthersee disease because he cannot explain some things. Over time, the game of hide and seek becomes a burden for Renate because she has fallen in love with Andy. Uncle Fritz is adored as Mrs. Liebling by the millionaire Mr. Brown, who absolutely wants to marry her and first introduce her to his mother in Oklahoma . When Fritz and Andy therefore decide to let "Frau Liebling" disappear and instead introduce Fritz as their brother in Velden, Andy is arrested by the police for murder. Fritz has to reappear as Frau Liebling.

Andy learns from Dr. Peters, the twins' grandfather, from the two sisters and now sets a trap for them himself. He forces Renate to smoke and drive, and the model Hanna to go hiking in the mountains. In the end, the identities are voluntarily dissolved and Andy and Renate become a couple. Only Fritz is left behind. With the chemical solution "Mobis 3" he has created a miracle drug, which is why his boss would like to hire him again, but there is no financier to manufacture the drug. As this, Mr. Brown agrees, so that Ms. Liebling has to be activated again, who now lives with Mr. Brown.

production

The shooting of the film took place at the Wörthersee , among other places . Director Peter Weck can be seen in a cameo as the hotel porter. The premiere was on November 21, 1969. On this occasion, the two real twin sisters Ulli and Gaby König were introduced to the public. They emerged as winners from a twin casting and received a film contract from Karl Spiehs personally. They were later in the films When The Great Aunts Come and That Knocks Out the Strongest Twin to see as twins.

There are three tracks sung by Roy Black in the film:

  • The show begins (music: Werner Twardy , text: Lilibert )
  • Only you (music: Werner Twardy, text: Lilibert)
  • My most beautiful dream (music: Rolf Arland , text: Lilibert)

Help, i love twins! was seen by around 2.5 million visitors in the Federal Republic of Germany.

automobile

The yellow convertible that Roy Black drives is an Italian Siata Spring , a retro roadster from 1967 based on a Fiat 850 .

criticism

The lexicon of international film rated Help, I love twins! as "undemanding confusion and disguise game". The Protestant film observer did not come to a friendlier result: German dozen clothes in which Roy Black is thrown into confusion by the fact that Uschi Glas presents herself in a double role as a photo model and teacher. For modest demands.
