Himmel, Amor und Zwirn is a German feature film from 1960 by Ulrich Erfurth, set in the armed forces milieu, starring Hartmut Reck and Grit Boettcher as a quarreled couple. Thomas Westa wrote the script based on his own novel.

action

The dressmaker and fashion designer Friedrich Himmel has been drafted into the armed forces and is supposed to do his service with the mountain troops. His little responsible, very young wife Susanne is now giving him the baby together because she wants to go her own way and no longer feels like having a husband and toddler. In view of this emergency situation, Himmel has no other advice and takes the baby to the barracks.

The underage newcomer will soon cause a stir in the armed forces operations and will also temporarily disappear. The wife of the commanding officer, Major Knorr, finally took on the tiny creature on a temporary basis, and the "Causa Baby" soon caused a stir that reached as far as the Hardthöhe in Bonn. Finally, the repentant mother returns to her husband and the marital peace is restored.

Reviews

In its issue of August 24, 1960, the Hamburger Abendblatt mocked “Himmel, Amor und Zwirn”: “... that's how you want to curse if you've followed this film to the end.”
Paimann's film lists summed up: “Kasernenhof history in Bundeswehr edition: neither jagged nor stupid and with current heretical marginal notes, rich in successful situations and gags. With impersonal actors, 'played over' by a sweet baby, successful dialogues, pleasing presentation and illustration music, balanced technology. "

"Not particularly original, but quite amusing, entertaining food that advertises in a rather curious way how fond of children and how humane the Bundeswehr soldiers are."
