Thomas Bride

Thomas Ulrich Braut (born May 22, 1930 in Berlin , † December 13, 1979 in Munich ) was a German actor and voice actor .

Life

The son of the actress Frigga Braut attended the Düsseldorf drama school from 1949 to 1951 under Gustaf Gründgens and also took piano and singing lessons. In 1949 he made his stage debut as a choir messenger in The Bride of Messina at the Grenzlandtheater in Monschau. Further stages were Düsseldorf, Osnabrück, Cologne, Munich, Zurich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin. He was not only active as an actor, but also as a director.

From 1957 he also took on roles in film and television productions. He played u. a. in Frank Wisbar's war film Sharks and Small Fish , in the Heinz Erhardt comedy father, mother and nine children , crime novels such as Stahlnetz and in television series such as Derrick , Das Kriminalmuseum , Notarztwagen 7 , Der Alte and Aufachse .

Since 1953, Braut has also worked extensively as a voice actor and has lent his voice to internationally known acting colleagues such as Alan Bates (including The Death Scream ), Jean-Paul Belmondo ( The Man I Like ), Richard Burton ( Steiner - The Iron Cross II ) , Johnny Cash ( Columbo - Schwanengesang ), James Coburn ( Steiner - Das Eiserne Kreuz ), James Drury (in the western series The People from Shiloh Ranch ), Gene Hackman ( Lost in Space ), Dennis Hopper ( Easy Rider ) , Ben Gazzara ( The Bridge of Remagen ), Toshirō Mifune ( Rivals under the Red Sun ), Cameron Mitchell ( Cursed They All ), Renato Salvatori (among others in Rocco and his brothers ) and William Shatner ( On a secret mission ).

Bride was married to the acting colleague Ursula Herwig . His cousin Ingrid Braut (1926-2001) also worked as an actress.

After Thomas Braut had suffered two heart attacks in the previous years, he died of a third heart attack on December 13, 1979 at the age of only 49. His grave can be found in the Düsseldorf North Cemetery .
