history
A National Historic Landmark is located in Ho-Ho-Kus , the neo-Gothic residential building The Hermitage . Five buildings in the area are listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (status October 24, 2018).

As of the 2000 census, there are 4,060 people, 1,433 households and 1,199 families in the city. The population density is 900.9 inhabitants per km². 92.66% of the population are White, 0.59% African American , 0.10% Native American , 5.22% Asian , 0.20% Pacific Islander , 0.37% Other Ethnicity, and 0.86% Mixed Race . 1.97% are Latinos of any race.
