The place Holz is located directly east of Steyr , 2 kilometers northwest of the place Behamberg . The village lies above the Enns , in the pre-alpine Riedelland at around 390  m above sea level. A. Height. It is located on the B122  Voralpen Straße , which when coming from Amstetten leads down here in Ennstal near Steyr. The B42  Haager Straße from Haag joins just north, between Wanzenöd and Holz.

The place includes about 40 addresses and is part of the scattered houses Wachtberg of the cadastral community and village of Wanzenöd .

The wood address area can be found on the hills to the north, between Ramingdorf and Tröstlberg , and also includes the village of Oedt and the Rotte Pühring , but not Heuberg (addresses Heuberg) and Wanzenöd (addresses Wachtberg), nor the village of Holz itself.

history

Wood belonged to the Steyr lordship repective lordship Ramingdorf . The place was formerly also called Holzhauser , and is named around 1830 with 7 houses and 45 inhabitants.

Until 1923, Holz was one of the five localities of the municipality (with Hammer / Hinterberg and Ramingdorf / Minichholz ), since the local directory in 1923 the locality has been called Wanzenöd like the cadastral municipality.
