Honda Z 100

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Z 100 is a mini moped with a 50 cm³ four-stroke engine with OHV , which was first used in 1961 at the TamaTech Honda amusement park .

The Z 100 is the ancestor of the so-called Monkeys , later marketed worldwide by Honda , to which the Honda CZ 100 , Z 50 M, Z 50 A, Z 50 Z and Z 50 J belong as a direct successor to the Z 100 , see Honda Monkey . The latter are still manufactured by Honda to this day. The Monkey model series can look back on more than 45 years of history (as of 2006).

The Z 100 itself was never marketed and was only made by hand in small numbers. The tank was made of plastic with a tank emblem on one side. The Z100 was completely rigid; H. without any suspension and equipped with small 5-inch wheels. Because of the hunched over posture of the adult riders who hung like a monkey on this mini moped, the name Monkey was born for this motorcycle model series. The whereabouts of only one of these mopeds has been determined; this can be admired in the Honda Collection Hall near the Twin Ring Motegi .
