In 1840 Ober-Butschitz or Bučice Hořegssj consisted of 35 houses in which 241 people lived. There was a manorial farm with a sheep farm and a brick kiln in the village. The parish was Chotusitz .
After the abolition of patrimonial Horní Bučice formed a district of the municipality Dolní Bučice in the judicial district of Časlau . From 1868 the place belonged to the Časlau district . At the end of the 19th century, Horní Bučice broke away from Dolní Bučice and formed its own municipality.
In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Čáslav was repealed; Horní Bučice was assigned to the Okres Kutná Hora and incorporated into Vrdy. On March 3, 1991 the place had 251 inhabitants; in the 2001 census, 293 people lived in the 96 houses in Horní Bučice.
