Live and act

Klein completed his school career at the Helmholtz School in Frankfurt am Main in 1963 with the Abitur and then studied Romance philology with a focus on linguistics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University from 1963 to 1966 . Further interests were in classical philology and political science . He then moved to the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , where he turned to the subject of Hungarian studies. In addition to his studies in Mainz, he studied in various other European cities, such as Bucharest , Strasbourg , Lisbon , Granada and Genoa . He was then promoted to Dr. phil. PhD .

From 1969 to 1972 Klein was a research assistant in Frankfurt am Main, as well as a lecturer for the Romanian language , a position he held from 1968 to 1972. In 1974 he became professor for Romance philology in Frankfurt am Main and in the meantime was engaged in adult education at the adult education center . From 1981 to 1982 he took up a visiting professorship at the Free University in Berlin-Dahlem . He later taught again in Frankfurt am Main.

Klein is the founder and leader of the EuroCom research group ( Eurolinguistics ). Since 1963 he was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) . From 1973 to 1977 he was a community representative in Kriftel ( Hesse ). He was with a degree in Romance languages and college advisor i. R. Silvia Klein (* 1952) married.

Horst G. Klein (1974) worked a. a. intensely with the phenomenon of the aspect . In his opinion, this has nothing to do with the time levels. Much more:

  • an aspect differentiation always takes place at the same time level;
  • the criterion of the duration of an action has nothing to do with the aspect;
  • The limitation of an action does not have to be a distinguishing criterion. It is implied in the perfective aspect and cannot be ruled out in the imperfective aspect
  • there are only two aspects of a binary aspect opposition (perfective and imperfective);
  • the lexical differentiation of German such as “hunt”, “hunt” has nothing to do with the aspect.
