Emergence

After earlier demos were partly used for the first album, Hotter Than Hell consists almost entirely of new pieces. Especially the title track and Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll are still classics of the band today. Ace Frehley had a car accident shortly before the cover photos were taken and was only able to make up half of his face because of the injuries. The rest of the make-up was subsequently processed in the photo laboratory . Peter Criss wanted to add a drum solo to the piece Strange Ways . The rest of the band opposed it and Criss threatened to leave Kiss, but decided to stay.
