action

Thomas Warshaw witnessed his mother's suicide as a teenager in New York in the 1970s . A hard blow to the boy whose father previously died of cancer. When he was only 13 he turned his back on New York as an orphan . As an adult, he started a family in Paris , but hid his past. He uses the 13th birthday of his son Odell as an opportunity to reveal the tragic events of his childhood to his next of kin. He is not entirely innocent of his mother's death. He took an offense of his friend Pappass on his hat. The school management threatened him with sanctions, which of course his nervous mother Katherine found out. An overdose of sleeping pills caused brain death in Tommy's mother the following night. The intensive medical treatment that was initiated remained hopeless. Therefore, Tommy deactivated the ventilator and thus brought about the premature death of his mother.
