Hoved Iceland is an uninhabited island in the Queen Elizabeth Islands in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut . The island is located in the Baumann Fiord between the two peninsulas Svendsen Peninsula and Bjorne Peninsula of Ellesmere Island . It is 158 km².
Hoved Island was first mapped and named by the second Norwegian expedition of the Fram (1898–1902) under Captain Otto Sverdrup . The Norwegian "Hovedøen" means something like "main island".
