Thor Island is an uninhabited island in the Queen Elizabeth Islands in Nunavut , Canada . The island, located south of Ellef Ringnes Island in the Danish Strait , is 16.8 kilometers long, 6.6 kilometers wide and has an area of 123 km². The island is relatively flat and does not reach a height of 100 meters.
Natural gas was found on Thor Island in the early 1970s .
