Hugo Hagen (* 1818 ; † April 14, 1871 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Hugo Hagen was a student of Ludwig Wilhelm Wichmann . From 1842 to 1857 he worked in the studio of Christian Daniel Rauch in Berlin, in particular he was busy with the equestrian statue of Frederick the Great (Berlin, Unter den Linden / Schinkelplatz), the statue for Albrecht Thaer (Berlin, Humboldt University , Invalidenstrasse 42) and at the statue for Immanuel Kant in Königsberg . In 1865 he became the managing director of the Rauch Museum in Berlin. After the death of Hermann Schievelbein , he participated in the completion of his Freiherr-vom-Stein monument (1867, currently in the Berlin House of Representatives ). In 1870 he helped Rudolf Siemering to complete the Schadow coin frieze .
