Hwang Kyung-seon ( Korean 황경선 ; * May 21, 1986 ) is a South Korean Taekwondoin . She was able to win two medals at the Olympic Games and three at world championships in the middleweight division.

Hwang has been competing in international competitions since 2002. At the 2003 Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City , she won her first title in the class up to 63 kilograms. She qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . After a defeat in the quarterfinals, she fought for the bronze medal on the Hope Round. In the following years, Hwang dominated the international title fights in the middleweight division. She won the title at the 2005 World Cup in Madrid and 2007 in Beijing , and in the final she defeated Gwladys Épangue both times . Also in the Asian Games 2006 in Doha , she was successful in the Asia Cup 2006 in Bangkok , they also won silver. Hwang took part in her second Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 . She moved into the final, where she narrowly defeated Karine Sergerie and became an Olympic champion for the first time.

After the games, she took a long break from Taekwondo Hwang. She only returned to the international stage at the 2011 World Cup in Gyeongju . She won another World Cup medal with bronze after she reached the semi-finals, but was eliminated there against Sarah Stevenson . Hwang won silver at the 2012 Asian Cup in Ho Chi Minh City. In qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she was able to prevail against Kim Mi-kyung within the team and thus secure her third participation in the Olympics. In London, she managed to repeat her Olympic victory, beating Turkish Nur Tatar with 12: 5 points in the final.
