The Hyundai Accent WRC was a rally vehicle based on the Hyundai Accent developed by the Hyundai Motor Company for the 2000 World Rally Championship . The car had a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

description

The car was used for the first time at the Rally Sweden in the winter of 2000. The best place in the first season was 4th place at the Rally Australia , which however did not help the team achieve the expected success. Because at the end of the season, Hyundai was only sixth out of seven in the team ranking. This was also reflected in the drivers' standings, because only the Swede Kenneth Eriksson achieved points for the standings. The 2001 World Rally Championship was a bit more successful, but again it was only enough for sixth place in the manufacturers' championship. In the 2002 World Rally Championship , Hyundai took part in every round of the season with the Accent and achieved fourth place in the manufacturers' championship. Contract problems with Motorsport Development meant that Hyundai had to end its participation in the 2003 World Rally Championship early in the middle of the Sanremo Rally .

Some of the 25 chassis produced were passed on to private teams and used for rally championships outside of the World Rally Championship .

A Hyundai Accent WRC can be seen in the video games Richard Burns Rallye , Gran Turismo and the World Rally Championship game series .
