IC 1338 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 424 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies IC 1335 and IC 1337 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 26, 1892 .
