IC 1322 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SB in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 161 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years across.
The object was discovered on July 16, 1891 by Stéphane Javelle .
