IC 1331 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 261 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter . Together with PGC 65391 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on September 13, 1892 .
