IC 2952 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Big Dipper in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 434 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 50,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3847 , NGC 3855 , IC 726 , IC 2958 .
The object was discovered on June 11, 1896 by Stéphane Javelle .
