NGC 3855 = IC 2953 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 416 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Heinrich d'Arrest on May 8, 1864 .
