NGC 3845 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 252 million light years from the Milky Way , about 60,000 ly in diameter, and a member of the Leo cluster of galaxies Abell 1367 .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3841 , NGC 3842 , NGC 3844 , NGC 3851 , among others .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 17, 1831 .
