NGC 3824 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 95 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 35,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 3829 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 14, 1789 .
