NGC 3815 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Leo the northern sky . It is an estimated 164 million light years from the Milky Way . Together with two other galaxies, it forms the NGC 3798 group or LGG 245 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 10, 1785 .
