NGC 3796 is a dwarf galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S? in the constellation Great Bear in the north star sky . It is estimated to be 60 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter. 
The galaxies NGC 3770 , NGC 3809 , NGC 3835 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 19, 1790 by Wilhelm Herschel .
