NGC 3770 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 149 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter. Together with six other galaxies, it is a member of the NGC 3963 group ( LGG 251 ).
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3740 .
The object was discovered on March 19, 1790 by Wilhelm Herschel .
