NGC 3766 is an open star cluster in the constellation Centaur . The star cluster has a diameter of 15 arc minutes and a magnitude of 5.3 mag. It is about 5700 light years from Earth . It was discovered by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1751 .
In a study published in Astronomy and Astrophysics with seven years of observation of more than 3000 stars with the help of the Leonhard Euler telescope in Chile, 36 stars were discovered in the star cluster that seem to belong to a class of variable stars that have not yet been described are about 20 million years young. Their brightness fluctuates only slightly (0.1 percent in two to 20 hours), but it cannot be explained with the familiar star models.
