NGC 3748 is a lenticular S0-type galaxy in the constellation Leo . The galaxy was discovered on April 5, 1874 by the British astronomer Ralph Copeland .
The galaxy NCG 3748 forms together with NGC 3745 , NGC 3746 , NGC 3750 , NGC 3751 , NGC 3753 and NGC 3754 the galaxy group Arp 320 and complements the galaxy PGC 36010 the Hickson Compact Group (HCG) 57. Halton Arp structured his catalog in a more unusual way Galaxies in groups according to purely morphological criteria. This group of galaxies belongs to the class of galaxies .
