NGC 3746 is a bar- type spiral galaxy SBab in the constellation Leo . The galaxy was discovered on February 9, 1874 by the British astronomer Ralph Copeland .

The galaxy NCG 3746 forms together with NGC 3745 , NGC 3748 , NGC 3750 , NGC 3751 , NGC 3753 and NGC 3754 the galaxy group Arp 320 and complements the galaxy PGC 36010 the Hickson Compact Group (HCG) 57. Halton Arp structured his catalog in a more unusual way Galaxies in groups according to purely morphological criteria. This group of galaxies belongs to the class of galaxies .
