NGC 3802 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Leo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 146 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years across. Together with NGC 3801 , it forms the bound galaxy pair Holm 273 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3790 , NGC 3803 , NGC 3806 , NGC 3807 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 17, 1784 .
